Dear Deans, Directors, and Chairs,
We are pleased to announce Dr. Stacia Lael Moroski-Rigney as the new director of academic assessment, program review and accreditation. Reporting to Dave Weatherspoon, the associate provost of enrollment and academic strategic planning, this position manages institutional level assessments, day to day management of program review including the linking of professional accreditations with academic program review, and university-level accreditation. This position also serves as the Accreditation Liaison Officer to the Higher Learning Commission.
“Accreditation is an ongoing, collaborative process that requires a culture of valuation — not just evaluation, something I find inspiring. To foster that culture, I look forward to building campus partnerships and continuing conversations around the good work that happens here at MSU,” said Moroski-Rigney. “The accreditation process is our chance both to be recognized for meeting our commitment to academic excellence and to continuously, recursively improve for students and staff.”
Moroski-Rigney has served as the director of assessment for the College of Arts and Letters since last year. She also serves as director for the Citizen Scholars Program at MSU and is on the Higher Learning Commission Peer Corps. Moroski-Rigney’s previous roles include director of general education at Lipscomb University, as well as director of The Writing Studio at Lipscomb University.
Moroski-Rigney’s administrative experience is mirrored by a wide portfolio of teaching experience that includes educational contexts from the LIFE Program at Tennessee Prison for Women to Shandong University in China. At MSU, she is an assistant professor and affiliated graduate faculty in the WRAC Department. She also works as a consultant, leading faculty trainings for universities and secondary schools that are designing writing programs, assessment plans, and writing centers.
Moroski-Rigney brings a deep well of assessment knowledge and the ability to think critically about complex systems to meet the challenges ahead. She is also a warm, delightful collaborator and educator, as her colleagues and students can attest.
Please help me welcome Dr. Stacia Lael Moroski-Rigney as the new director of academic assessment, program review and accreditation.
Sincerely,
Dave
